The New Payments Platform (NPP) was launched to the public on the 13th of February as a revolutionary initiative in Australia.

Avocado Consulting was engaged by three key stakeholders (SWIFT, The Reserve Bank of Australia and Indue) in the initial release of the NPP as announced in November 2017.

Given this experience in working across multiple stakeholders, Avocado is well placed to support businesses as they transition to the NPP.

The size of the NPP project was described in an article by the Sydney Morning Herald as a $1 billion project which involved changes to the infrastructure that facilitates millions of payments between consumers and businesses.

The NPP represents a milestone in the Australian financial sector. In an article released by Indue (2018), Derek Weatherley, CEO, is quoted as saying:

“We are experiencing the most significant change to the payments landscape many of us will see in our lifetimes and one of which we will forever be a part. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the NPP to life”.

Michael Hawkins from Avocado Consulting led a team engaged with Swift and stated:

“Working on the NPP project was an incredible opportunity to be involved in a program that redefines the way Australians transact on a daily basis”.

Hawkins went on to say, “As other financial institutions sign up to NPP, Avocado is best positioned to support these clients given our in-depth knowledge and experience from working across multiple founding NPP participants”.
