Meet our Graduate: Jake Darlington

Avocado’s graduate program develops talented graduates into successful IT professionals with real skills and experience. Designed around the individual, we help graduates to explore their potential, accelerating their professional development.

We are very excited to have Jake join our program. Avocado’s Talent Manager found Jake’s CV in the most unlikely of places – the local garage! They started chatting about all things IT, and we knew we had to have him join the team. Jake has a Diploma of IT from TAFE NSW and will be joining Avocado’s Splunk practice, working with some of Australia’s largest organisations. Let’s get to know him a little more…

Jake Graduate

What is your new role at Avocado?

Splunk Graduate.

What made you want to go into the IT industry?

When I was little, I always had a fascination with computers. I would always play around with things until I broke something and then taught myself how to fix them. This led me to be the family IT guy and later to my first job in a small computer repair shop.

What are you most excited about for your new role?

I’m excited to work with new people in a challenging environment and to further my IT knowledge.

Why did you want to join Avocado over other companies?

I wanted to join Avocado because the role presented was a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow professionally. I knew it would be a great career option for me.

What are your career goals?

To work hard and be successful.

What is your favourite quote?

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” -Wayne Gretzky
