This year we have welcomed Jonathon to our Graduate Program. He will be joining our dedicated Monitoring Practice here at Avocado. Let’s get to know him a little more…

Meet our Graduate: Jonathon

Meet our Graduate: Jonathan, Avocado Consulting - deliver with certaintyJonathon joins our Avocado team after attaining his education in the IT space. He has acquired a Certificate 4 in Programming paired with a Diploma in Software Development from TAFE. Following on from this, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Information Technology from Wollongong University.

Outside of work, Jonathon’s hobbies include building things, and figuring out ways to fix and improve gadgets around his home. His favourite subject for this hobby is his 13-year-old car. Jonathon also enjoys programming outside of work. He recently developed a bot that works like Siri on the platform Discord, which he uses with his friends.

What sparked your interest in pursuing a career in the IT industry?

I didn’t get the chance to use a computer properly until I was in year 9 or 10. Seeing that there was always a program for something, I wanted to know how they worked at a lower level. When I started programming, I enjoyed it a lot and naturally wanted to pursue a career in IT.

What is your new role at Avocado?

My new role is as a Splunk Practice Graduate Consultant.

What are you most excited about for your new role at Avocado?

Learning and using the new systems that we work with in the Avocado Monitoring Practice. Splunk as a monitoring solution gives us the opportunity to learn about so many different applications and how they can benefit organisations.

What type of work are you hoping to do after the graduate program?

Being a Technical Consultant in the near future, after being a graduate.
